Approximately 10 years ago I read in the local newspaper about the impending construction of the Temple at the Quang Duc Buddhist Welfare Association. Since then I have made a weekly pilgrimage to meditate, recite sutras and ring the large bell; Over the years, I've attended many Buddhist celebrations and fundraising events, which I've found to be both insightful and enjoyable. When I make my weekly journey and enter the monastery grounds, the western world I know so well instantly disintegrates, and is replaced by a Buddhist sanctuary with a Vietnamese culture; I feel as though I'm in another country without having left Australia. It is a unique experience. My visits to the Temple revitalises my spirit and acts as a reminder to me to strive to be a more fully aware, compassionate and responsible person. I'd like to thank Venerable Phuong and Venerable Tang for allowing me to attend the Temple over the past decades and to congratulate them on the 20th Anniversary of the Quang Duc Buddhist Welfare Association.
With Best Wishes Always,
Cheryl Jones
