Học sinh Úc viếng thăm Tu Viện Quảng Đức:
Lớp Thiền và Yoga tại Tu Viện Quảng Đức


Học sinh Úc viếng Tu Viện Quảng Đức: 12 giờ trưa  nay Thứ Năm, 29-11-2018, Thầy Cô giáo và 50 em học sinh thuộc trường Tiểu Học Fawkner, đã viếng thăm và tìm hiểu giáo lý Đạo Phật, TT  Trụ Trì Tu Viện Quảng Đức Thích Nguyên Tạng đã tiếp phái đoàn và giảng giải giáo lý cơ bản và hướng dẫn các xem ngồi thiền. Phần lớn các em là học sinh da trắng Úc theo đạo Thiên Chúa & Hồi Giáo, đã tỏ ra rất thích thú khi nghe về giáo lý ăn chay, vô thường và sự tái sinh, có nghĩa là sau khi chết có thể trở lại làm người, có thể đọa lạc vào loài cầm thú hay rơi vào địa ngục, ngạ quỹ.... Đây là những điều mới mẻ đối với các em. Hằng năm có nhiều trường tiểu học (lớp 5 đến lớp 9) trong tiểu bang thường đưa các em đến Tu Viện Quảng Đức để tham quan, tìm hiểu về kiến trúc, văn hóa và giáo lý Đạo Phật, sau khi về lại trường, các học sinh sẽ viết 1 bài essay về buổi học ngoại khóa của mình, đây là 1 nét sinh hoạt đặc biệt của học đường tại Úc châu.

Imagine if the whole world practised meditation. If everybody in the world had the opportunity to get to know their mind. To clearly perceive the wholesome mental qualities that need to be adopted, nurtured and perfected, as well as the unwholesome mental afflictions that need to be relinquished and eradicated, and then implemented the invaluable meditation methods taught by the Buddha. I think that you may agree that all wars and conflicts would be pacified, and peace and understanding would pervade the world. As His Holiness the Dalai Lama says, “If every eight year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation."

Amitabha Buddha’s name chanting is an easy method of cultivation in which beliefs are difficult to have, especially in this age of information technology when people care more about material comfort than the spiritual life. However, as in the Buddha’s teachings: Buddhahood is a nature of mind and it’s the mind that possesses the Buddhahood, ringing about enlightenment.
