1937 -   Was born on the full-moon Day of Tagaung in Badigone Townshio, Pyi District, Bago     Region, Myanmar.

1952 -   Entered the monastic life as a novice under the guidance of Most Ven. Inddhavamsa, the abbot of the

Tat Ywar Ale Monastery in Thegone Twonship.

1957 -   Received higher ordination under the supervision of the Most Ven. Dhammasakka, the abbot of  Kan

Ale Monastery in Thegone.

1757 -   Attended  Thaingone  Monastery  in  Tamwe,  Yangon  in  order  to  acquire  knowledge  of  higher

Buddhist scriptures.

1957 -   Passed Pathamagne Pariyatti Exam at Thaingone Monastery in Tamwe

1958 -   Passed Pathamalat Pariyatti Exam at Thaigone Monastery in Thainphyu Street

1959 -   Passed Pathamagyi Pariyatti Exam at Thaigone Monastery in Thainphyu Street

1960-    Lived  and  studied  for  a  Dhammacariya  degree  at  the  Moetar  Monastery  of  Khinmakan  in

Mandalay

1961 -   Acquired the Dhammacariya Degree ( The Master in the Dhamma).

1963 -   Attended Gabaraye's Samgha University.

1965 -   Completed the Diploma in Buddha Desana Course.

1966 -   Founded   Bamar   Buddhab   Bathar   Missionary   (B.B.M)   College   Laymyathna   Ayeyarwaddy

Region in order to carry out missionary work.

1967 -   Moved to Hanthargiri Monastery in Sagaing to teach Buddhist Scriptures.

1968 -   Learned  the  Visuddhimagga  Treaty  in  English  under  the  direction  of  Most  Ven.  Anisakhan

Sayadaw of Sagaing.

1972 -   Spent four years in seclusion practice at Thabaiaing Forest Monastery.

1976 -   Began teaching the Dhamma and coordinating donations of Malun rice while tending to Anisakhan

Sayadaw.

1977 -   Established Saddhamma Sitagu Monastery in Sagaing.

1978 -   Founded the Sitagu Missionary Association.

1979 -   Commenced conducting foreign missionary work.

1980 -   Initiated the Sitagu Water Donation Project on the Full-Moon Day of Kasone.

1981 -   Accompanied Most Ven. Bararnasi Sayadaw on a Buddhist Missionary Tour through six nations.

1982 -   Travelled to England with Most Ven. Setthila in order to acquire English.

1983 -   Lived and studied english at the Burmese Monstary builed by U Win Myint in Nashville, United

State.

1985 -   Began the Sitagu Ayudana Hospital Project on Kasone's full moon day.

2020 -   Instructed  to  evacuate  492  monks,  nuns,  and  laypeople  who  were  stranded  and  enrolled  in colleges in Sri Lanka and India. They were housed at Sitagu International Vipassana Academy for 21 days, receiving meticulous medical attention for their health issues.

2020 -   Supplied 27282 pieces of rice and 27282 liters of edible oil to the 27282 monks and nuns who lived in Yangon.

2020 -   Contributions and Merit Sharing in Tribute to the Gem Seekers Who Died in Pharkant Kachin

2020 -   Instructed  to  build  the  Porana  Kaungmudaw  Stupa  using  paint  robes  and  cement  that  were separated from the Kaungmu Daw Stupa.

2021 -   Delivered a speech on television during the commemoration of Buddha's Day organized by the International  Buddhist  Confederation  and  the  Indian  Council  for  Cultural  Relations,  which brought together Buddhist leaders from fifty countries.

2021 -   Lectured  on  the  Cakkavatti  Sutta  to  the  Sitagu  International  Buddhist  Academy's  professors, lecturers, and B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. students.

2021-    Travelled  to  the  Russian  Federation  for  three  months  with  Myanmar  artists  to  oversee  the projects of Myanmar arts and architecture on the Shwe Zi Gone Pagoda, three standing   bronze


statues of Buddha, a sitting Buddha statue, and thirty bronze statues of Buddha from different nations.

2021 -   Offered a pennant and a holy umbrella to the Gawamthapat Stupa in Bago.

2021 -   Established Sitagu Summer Vihara in Pyin Oo Lwin.

2022 -   Offered Golden Holy Umbrella, Pennant, and Diamond Bud to Sinmyarchin and Yadanar   Stupas following extensive restoration.

2022 -   Arranged  for  Sitagu  International  Buddhist Academy  Sagaing  Hills  to  host  its  fourth  General

Convocation.

2022 -   Obtained a letter designating as the State Ovadacariya.

2022 -   Appointed to take over as the 16th Sangharaja of the Myanmar Shwekyin Nikaya Sect.

2022 -   Renovated Pinya Period Stupa at the summit of Min Hla Range, Sagaing Hills.

2022 -   Held the Cornerstone and Sanctification Ceremony on the property where Chancellor House and

Sanchi Stupa are to be constructed.

2022 -   Opened the Sitagu Sakkhudana Hospital in Khantee Town, providing eye care to 1385    patients and 230 patients who received successful eye surgeries.

2022 -   Inaugurated Shwe Zi Gone Stupa with 19 adherent monks by erecting Diamond Bud and Pennant in the presence of the Myanmar prime minister.

2022 -   Supplied 218-unit measures of rice to the Sitagu staff and other monasteries, 890 unit measures  of rice to the 3500 residents of Sagaing, Minwun, and Mingun, and 400 unit measures of rice to the two monastic education centers. There are 1508 rice units in all.

2022 -   Attended and gave a speech on Abhidhamma on the occasion of Abhidhamma's Day, which was hosted by Gotama Buddha University in Dheli, India.

2022 -   Offered  the  1682  monks  living  in  the  164  monasteries  1682  Unit  Measure  of  Rice  and  1681

2022 -   Donated basic supplies including rice, salt, and edible oil to the 217 monks, 191 novices, 84 nuns, and 6 Christian nunneries. Each recipient also received 5 lakh Kyat.

2022 -   Launched  the  Sitagu  Jivitacakkhudana  Hospital  in  Myeik,  performing  eye  exams  on  1414 patients, 242 of whom underwent successful eye surgery.

2022 -   Completed the construction of Sitagu Sangha Sannipata three stories building (Sangha Convention

Halls) in Sagaing.

2022 -   Evacuated and repatriated 43 fishermen who were serving 4-year prison sentences in India.

2022 -   Enshrined Sanchi Stupa situated in Pyin Oo Lwin's Sitagu Summber Vihara.

2022 -   Delivered  a  talk  at  the  Buddhagaya  Mahabhodi  Stupa  in  India  during  the  Tipitak  Recitation ceremony beneath the Bodhi tree.


2022 -   Consecrated the Shwe Zi Gone Study and placed Diamond Bud and Pennant following the installation of  Myanmar  artwork  and  architecture  on  the  Pagoda  at  Buddhagaya,  Mahabhodhi  Parahita Monastery in India.

2023 -   Presented  and  installed  the  Pennant,  Diamond  Bud,  and  Holy  Umbrella  at  the  Sitagu        

           Summer Vihara Pyin Oo Lwin.

2023 -   Abolished the previous Sima and consecrated a new one that was attached to the Samvejaniya Dhamma Hall and the four-story Sitagu Sangha Sannipata structure. The monks  were   commanded by Most Ven. Sitagu Sayadawgyi and Most Ven. Kumara, an abbot from  Mahatheindawgyi.

2023 -   Donated a unit measure of rice, a viss of edible oil, a set of robes, and other necessities to the

10,000 Sangha during the 86th Birth Day celebration.

2023 -   Instructed to place Pennant and Diamond Bud atop the Maha-Seti Stupa that King Bayin

Naung Hantharwady Bago had previously gifted.

2023 -   Opened the Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital in North Dagon, Yangon, and treated 176 patients with eye surgeries and 1254 patients with eye examinations.

2023 -   Embarked on a study tour to Cambodia with six lay students, 36 professors, and student  monks.

2023 -   Participated in and gave a speech at the Dehli, India, International Buddhist Summit.

2023 -   Provided one million kyat to the residents of Rakhine State impacted by the Mocha Storm.

2023 -   Supplied 1000 rice packages to the people in Rakhine State devastated by the Mocha Storm.

2023 -   Presented 10,000 dwellings made of galvanized iron sheets to Rakhine State residents affected by the Mocha storm.

2023 -   Participated in and delivered a speech during the 18th Buddha's Day celebration.

2023 -   Commenced the Mahamangala Stupa reconstruction project in Sagaing.

2023 -   Conducted eye exams for 1405 patients and eye surgery for 371 patients at Sitagucakkhudana

Hospital in Sitagu International Buddhist Academy Yangon for the second time.

2023 -   Toured  and  examined  the  Shwedagon  Pagoda  in  Hunnan  District,  China,  to  see  repairs  and reconstruction.

2023 -   Taught Utivuttaka to Sitagu International Buddhist Academy professors, lecturers, B.A., M.A.,   and

Ph.D. students.

2023 -   Led the 99 Sanghas from 9 different countries in the Consecration Ceremony of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw and oversaw and gave instructions for excavating marble  stone  and hauling it to create the Buddha image from start to finish.

2023 -   Took the 91-year-old senior monk of the Mahagandharyone monastery Amarapura Mandalay to

Thailand for a successful surgical procedure and check-up.

2023 -   Evacuated  and  repatriated  to  Myanmar  57  prisoners  who  were  detained  in  Indian  jails  for various offenses.

2023 -   Conducted  the  third  round  of  eye  exams  for  1503  patients  at  Sitagu  Cakkhudana  Hospital  in

Yangon, and performed successful eye surgeries for 523 patients.

2023 -   Performed eye exams for 1299 patients at Sitagu Jivitadana Hospital in Myiek, and 315  patients had successful eye surgeries.

2024 -   Hosted  the  Sitagu  Executive  Meeting,  which  was  attended  by  the  17  Executive  Members

from  the  Sitagu  International  Buddhist Academies,  Sagaing,  Mandalay, Yangon Taunggoo,  and Saddhamma  Sitagu  Monastery.  The  Executive  Members  extended  their  member  lists  and assigned tasks to each member.


2024 -   Participated  in  and  delivered  a  speech  at  the  Indian  government-organized  Asain  Buddhist

Conference for Peace (ABCP) in New Delhi, India.

2024 -   Honored with Tharaysithu.

2024 -   Ordered to have a bronze monument of U Thant, the UN General Secretary, made and sent to     his native town for unveiling.

2024 -   Conducted  eye  exams  for  1962  patients  at  Sitagu  Cakkhudana  Hospital  in  Yangon,  and  612 patients had successful eye surgeries for the fourth time.

2024 -   Completed  340  patients'  eye  exams  and  performed  210  patients'  successful  eye  surgeries  at

Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital in Yangon for the sixth time.

2024 -   Awarded a Gold Medal by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, an International Award for the

Promotion of Buddhism 2023.

2024 -   completed the sixth iteration of the Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital in Yangon, performing an eye examination for 1766 patients and a successful eye procedure for 516 patients.

2024 -   Awarded the title of D. Litt by University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

2024 -   Awarded   the   title   Theravadavamsa   Lankara   Siri   Mahaganacariya   Saddhammakittissiri   by

Seamnikaya, Sri Lanka.

-   has made missionary trips to more than 50 countries to date, attended 43 international conferences, and delivered speeches,

-   has offered 47 school buildings in Myanmar.

-   has donated ten computer sets and other educational supplies to the nine schools located around

Myanmar.

-   has awarded scholarships to 296 students in Myanmar; of these, 45 were medicalprofession als and

50 monks received Ph.D.s.

-   has ordered the construction of 43 hospitals in Sitagu Cakkhudana and Sitagu Arojjadana. Of the

388170 eye patients treated, 71090 had vision correction as a result of the treatment.

-   has successfully performed an eye examination and surgery at Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital in Yangon for the sixth time. 2047 patients had their sight restored after 8230 eye patients   received therapy.

-   has guided the care of more than 500000 general patients.

-   has supplied medications and medical supplies to eight additional hospitals in addition to the 71 government-run facilities.

-   has ordered the building, renovation, and restoration of more than 153 stupas, both new and old.

Rinpoche had been up in the mountains in the Tsum Valley since Monday, and had to be brought down urgently as Rinpoche was experiencing altitude sickness. On arrival back in Kathmandu this morning, Rinpoche stopped breathing. The main doctor at Karuna Hospital tried for some time to revive Rinpoche, but that was not successful. Rinpoche entered meditation at about 9.30am Nepal time, today Thursday April 13th.

Venerable Ananda Maitreya was one of the most respected Buddhist monks of the twentieth century in Sri Lanka. Venerable Ananda Maitreya was born near Balangoda in Sri Lanka. He was ordained as a novice on 2 March 1911 in Sri Lanka. His upasampada [higher ordination] was conducted on 14 July 1916 in Balangoda Sri Lanka. Although he travelled overseas, he remained rooted in Balangoda and opened Dhammananda Pirivena a monastic college for novice Monks in Balangoda. Venerable Ananda Maitreya played important roles in the revival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. He served as a lecturer in Pali, Sanskrit and Sinhalese at Ananda College in Colombo. When Nalanda College in Colombo was opened in 1925, he became the first teacher of Buddhism On opening in 1959 Vidyodaya University appointed him a Professor of Mahayana Buddhism in 1959, Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist studies in 1963, and Vice Chancellor in 1966. The renowned Indian Buddhist monk Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhipala, secretary-general of the Kolkata-based Bengal Buddhist Association (BBA; also known as the Bauddha Dharmankur Sabha), died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment for COVID-19. He was 52 years old. Dalai Lama says he could be reincarnated in India, but Beijing says rebirth must follow Chinese rules, The Dalai Lama has warned there could be two reincarnations of Tibetan Buddhism's highest spiritual leader following his death, and that a candidate chosen by communist China was not to be trusted. The comment has prompted Beijing to say the reincarnation "must comply with Chinese laws and regulations".
