May with these merits’ especially excellent practices,
boundless supreme blessings all dedicating,
universally wishing all sinking [and] drowning sentient beings,
[to] quickly go [towards] Immeasurable Light Buddha's land.
May the three kinds of hindrances and all afflictions be eliminated,
May I gain wisdom and true understanding,
May all hindrances caused by sin be removed,
May I always walk the Bodhisattva Way, life after life.
I wish to be reborn in the Western Pure Land,
I wish to have as my parents a lotus flower in nine grades,
When the flower opens, I will see that Buddha and realize the state of the non-arising of dharmas,
And I will have as my companions the Bodhisattvas who never regress.
May the merits of our deeds,
Reach every part of the world;
Sentient beings large and small,
All attain enlightenment.
THREE REFUGES
I take refuge in the Buddha, may all sentient beings
Understand the Great Way profoundly, and
Bring forth the bodhi mind.
I take refuge in the Dharma, may all sentient beings
Deeply enter the sutra treasury, and
Have wisdom vast as the sea.
I take refuge in the Sangha, may all sentient beings
Form together a great assembly,
one and all in harmony.
