Thông Cáo và Thư Mời Tham Dự Đại Lễ Vesak Quốc Tế Online tại Úc

THÔNG CÁO VÀ THƯ MỜI THAM DỰ
ĐẠI LỄ VESAK QUỐC TẾ (LIÊN HIỆP QUỐC) ONLINE TẠI ÚC




Vào ngày 15/12/1999, Liên Hiêp Quốc công nhận Ngày Vesak Quốc Tế (International VESAK Day) để vinh danh giáo pháp của đức Phật và sự đóng góp của Phật Giáo cho nhân loại. Do đó, vào ngày trăng tròn (khoảng trung tuần) tháng Năm Dương Lịch các quốc gia cùng nhau tổ chức trọng thể Ngày Vesak Liên Hiệp Quốc để tưởng niệm ngày đản sanh, thành đạo và nhập niết bàn của Đức Phật Thích Ca Mâu Ni. Úc là quốc gia Âu Mỷ đầu tiên tổ chức

Đại Lễ nầy vào năm 2007 lấy tên là The Australian Observance of the United Nations Day of Vesak để thi hành Nghị Quyết của Liên Hiệp Quốc.
Hiện nay dịch bệnh COVID-19 nguy hiểm lan tràn khắp thế giới và trở thành một đại họa cho nhân loại. Để tránh sự lây nhiễm đồng thời để tuân thủ chính sách cách ly xã hội của chính phủ, ngày Đại Lễ UN Vesak 2020 sẽ được tổ chức ONLINE vào ngày Thứ Tư 6 tháng 5 năm 2020 từ 6:45pm đến 7:45pm để chúng ta cùng tưởng nhớ công đức và lòng từ bi vô lượng cứu độ chúng sanh  của Đức Phật và cầu nguyện cho hòa bình và an sinh của nhân dân Úc và nhân loại.

Nghi lễ chính tiếng Anh bắt đầu vào lúc 7:00pm và kết thúc vào lúc 7:45pm.

Chương Trình Buổi Lễ UN Vesak 2020 online gồm có:

  • Đọc Thông điêp chúc mừng của Tổng Thư Ký Liên Hiệp Quốc, của Thủ Tướng Úc và Chủ tịch UN Association of Australia
  • Tụng kinh do ba tông phái Theravada, Mahayana và Vajrayana thực hiện. Đặc biệt tụng kinh theo Mahayana (Đại Thừa) bằng tiếng Việt
  • Hướng dẫn thiền định do Hòa thượng Pannyavaro, Phó Chủ Tịch Tổng Hội Phật Giáo Úc Châu cũng là người sáng lập Buddhanet.net
  • Common Buddhist Chanting (Tụng Kinh chung ngắn bằng tiếng Anh)

This uplifting poem has always been one for our favourites, so it's lovely to see this new and well-bound edition. Though written more than a hundred years ago, it still retains the power to move us in a way that no prose rendering of the life of the Buddha can. Its vivid, jewelled language makes us see the eagle wheeling in the sky, the snake beneath the rock,the moonlight shining on the floor while all in the palace sleep. The spreading branches of the Tree of Wisdom...And we cannot but admire the courage, determination and self-sacrifice of the Indian price who, out of compassion, left his palace to find a remedy for the sufferings of the world.

I was the first reader of the Life of the Buddha written by Mrs. Radhika Abeysekera. She presents the Dhamma to children in a very attractive way. On the day I was in Winnipeg, I understood the value of her voluntary gift of Dhamma (Dhammadana) to the children.
