Phần Một
IV. Tâm Kinh Bản Anh Ngữ

Prajñāpāramitā hrdaya Sūtra

1. The Bodhisattva Avalokitésvara, while engaged in the practice of profound Prajñāpāramitā, perceived that the five aggregates were empty of “self-existence”; thus, he overcame all sufferings and troubles.

2. O Sāriputra, Form does not differ from Emptiness, and Emptiness does not differ from Form; Form is Emptiness, and Emptiness is Form. The same can be said of feelings, conceptions, actions, and consciousnesses.

3. O Sāriputra, the characteristics of the Emptiness of all dharmas are that they are not arising, not ceasing, not defiled, not immaculate, not increasing, and not decreasing.

4. For these reasons, in Emptiness there are no forms, no feelings, no conceptions, no actions, no consciousnesses: no eyes, ears, tongue, body, or mind; no form, sound, odor, taste, touch or mind-object; no eye elements until we come to no elements of consciousnesses; no ignorance and no extinction of ignorance; no old age and death, and no extinction of old age and death; no truth of sufferings, and no truth of the causes of sufferings, of the cessation of sufferings, or of the path. There is no knowledge and no attainment whatsoever.

5. By reason of non-attainment, the Bodhisattva dwelling in Prajñāpāramitā has no obstacles in his mind. Because there are no obstacles in his mind, he has no fear and, going far beyond all perverted views, confusions, and imaginations, reaches the ultimate Nirvāna.

6. All the Buddhas of the past, present, and future, by relying on the Prajñāpāramitā, attain the Supreme Enlightenment.

7. Therefore, one should know that the Prajñāpāramitā is the great incantation, the incantation of great wisdom, the unexcelled incantation, and the equal of the unequalled incantation that is capable of allaying all sufferings, true because it is devoid of falsehood. This is the incantation proclaimed in the Prajñāpāramitā. The incantation is proclaimed as follows: “Gate, gate; pāragate, parasamgate, Bodhi, svāhā!”
