When Tarik Tulku was staying at the Singapore Sakya Tenphel Ling center, on May 15th, early in the morning he passed away. He remained in the perfect meditation posture for three days.
Immediately Jamyang Khedrup, Rinpoche's attendant telephoned to Luding Khen Rinpoche in Taiwan. Immediately upon hearing this news, he left for Singapore. Then for four days he performed the Naljorma ritual with four of his monks and five of Tarik Tulku's monks in the Singapore Sakya Center. There were several other monks attending. This ritual was completed very auspiciously. On the 21st May Tarik Tulku's holy body was returned to Kathmandu from Singapore. Accompanying his body were Ngor Luding Khen Rinpoche, nine monks, and several Singapore Sakya Center members. At the airport they were received by Tibetan Government officials and monks of approximately 18 Tibetan monasteries. At that time they beautifully offered incense, khatags, flowers etc... They were also wonderfully welcomed by many Nepalese, Tibetan, Chinese, and Western followers.
During the 49 day period thereafter, the rituals of Kye Dor, Kunrik, and Naljorma were performed at Tarik Tulku's monastery in the presence of Ngor Luding Khen Rinpoche, Tharse Shapdrung, and 150 monks. Then Tulku Tsewang Dechen, Tarik Rinpoche's nephew, performed the Amithaba and Chenrezig pujas during that same 49 day period.
On the 29th June his body was cremated in the presence of His Holiness Sakya Trizin's youngest son Gyana Betzar Rinpoche, Luding Khenpo, and Chogyay Trichen Rinpoche, as well as other Sakya lamas, khenpos, tulkus and monks from Tarik Gompa. At that time Kye Dor and Kunrik fire offering ceremonies were performed. Lamas and monks from the Nyingma, Gelugpa and Kagyu traditions were invited and came in great numbers. They offered many prayers and many ingredients to be added to the fire offering ceremony. All in all there were more than 600 monks. On that day the fire offering ritual and prayers were carried out in a very successful manner.
